Quality
Assurance Certification
Quality
Assurance Certification is a way by which companies can receive the
seal of approval from the International Organization for
Standardization. Quality Assurance Certification is a mark of
quality that must be earned by a series of quality management
procedures and implementation. Once a business receives Quality
Assurance Certification it is constantly subject to quality audits
to make sure standards are being upheld over time. Quality Assurance
Certification is based on compliance with the ISO 9000
system.
A Step-By-Step
Look at Quality Assurance Certification: The first step toward
Quality Assurance Certification is preparing quality assurance
plans. This includes the formation of strict policies and
procedures, as well as training in their implementation.
Certification is important for consumer confidence as well as
employee morale. This is a standard for government organizations,
medical agencies, agricultural and communications businesses.
Businesses large and small will reap the benefits of certification
and higher quality management systems.
Some of the
things required for Quality Assurance Certification include: a
quality manual, a list of company procedures, job descriptions,
monitoring systems, and formal disciplinary guidelines. While these
things are regulated by the ISO, they are important to creating
efficiency in any business. Over time you'll notice increases in
efficiency, productivity, and customer
satisfaction.
For many
businesses Quality Assurance Certification is a matter of necessity.
You can't continue working in many fields if a regulating body does
not certify your business. This is especially true for consumer
products, and safety devices. These regulating bodies are in place
to make it a safer world for consumers. Compliance is very easy to
achieve. It takes a little more work to maintain, but it's worth it
for company pride and the safety of your
consumers.
Quality
Assurance Certification was originally published in 1987 by the
International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide
federation of national standards bodies, headquartered in Geneva,
Switzerland. The organization was founded in 1946 to develop a
common set of standards for manufacturing, trade and communications.
Today more than 90 countries are members, each with a
representative. The representative for the
United
States is the American National Standards
Institute (ANSI).
The concept of
Quality Assurance Certification was developed in part because of the
European push toward a fully integrated common market. It was
recognized that for the common market to exist, there would have to
be assurance of quality across borders. The European Economic
Community, (now the
European Union, or EU), adopted Quality Assurance Certification as
the basic minimal quality management system for selling certain
products (electronic components and construction equipment) within
the European Union.
